Great Question! Running Wild Tours is led by South Africans who have a history of connecting with the US public. As South African citizens, we are aware of local customs, local knowledge, and recognize sustainable versus unsustainable and non-community-impact driven tours that do not drive a future for conservation and community upliftment. This helps us sift through genuinely impactful safari, guides, and lodges for the best, whilst still maintaining the luxury expectations a cross-continental trip deserves.
Knowing what makes US guest experiences great, combined with years of education and experience in South Africa, helps us connect your learning and engagement interests with more direction and impact, suited to impactful and exciting stories for you to take home.
-
Whether you need a visa is entirely dependent on your nationality and the destination(s) of the tour, and we highly encourage reviewing state and country requirements for travel. Generally, for most US passport holders, a visa to South Africa is not required, although changes are always possible.
-
Please consult you health practioner for any advice about malaria treatments of specific vaccination requirements prior to travel to your destination.
-
You do not need prior experience, just a willingness to learn and be excited.
We try to be inclusive to all who join, irrespective of fitness levels. However, many parts of the tour will be outside in high heat, unsterady gravel, and in sometimes moderate to hard conditions, be it because of weather or during activities. Therefore, our tours generally require moderate fitness to enjoy the full experience.
-
Yes, there is a minimum age requirement of 18 years old. This age requirement is often set by destination lodges and their individual safety interests.

Most meals on most days will be included and catered. We can cater to dietary requirements generally, although many lodge-specific menus may have limitations to their dietary catering ability.

-
We always strive to book your team, family, or friend groups whenever possible; however, each tour has a specific limitation on the number of guests allowed. These limitations are defined by lodge site room availability, transport capabilities, and park requirements.
