Leave No Trace

We believe that abiding by the Leave No Trace is essential to responsibly interacting with the outdoors. We look to abide by and work with our partners and guests to follow the 7 Principles of Leave No Trace:

Plan ahead and Prepare

  • We endeavor to understand requirements and concerns for where we visit, ensuring to follow local laws throughout our time visiting.

  • We travel in smaller groups to minimize our collective impact.

  • We have Plan B’s for emergencies such as extreme wether or hazards.

Travel and Camp on Durable Surfaces

  • We aim to reduce our impacts to natural areas by sticking to established trails where possible, and ensuring to travel on rock and gravel surfaces to avoid trampling native vegetation

  • We clean our hiking shoes before entering new locations to avoid spread of invasive species.

  • We use existing campsites/accommodations whilst ensuring any accommodations are aware of their impacts and actively trying to reduce said impacts through solar power, conservation work, education, and awareness campaigns.

Dispose of Waste Properly

  • We pack out what we pack in, ensuring waste is never left behind, and clearing trash if necessary and safe.

  • Guests carry bodily waste disposal options at all times

  • We carry biodegradable soaps, and ensure gray water and food waste is disposed of in city waste disposal units.

  • We never dispose of waste of all sorts within 200ft of waterbodies'.

Leave what we find

  • Southern Africa has incredible human, and natural resources giving clues to our histories, and resources which can be essential to ecosystems. Furthermore removal or importation of un-permitted items from parks is illegal. Removal of living or non-living cultural, historic, natural materials is strictly monitored

  • We do not alter the environment unless for conservation purposes.

Minimize Campfire Impacts

  • we refrain from campfires unless safely monitored, ensuring safety precautions and hazard in an area are made aware.

  • We do not leave a campsite until coals are cold.

Respect Wildlife

  • Southern Africa has wildlife attuned to game vehicles, however safety is a two-way street with guest safety being a top priority. Following guide guidance and Running Wild guidance is essential. We aim to never alter an animals natural behaviors, or impact their environment.

Be considerate of others

  • We share resources, land, and time with animals and nature with other guests, locals, and other tourists. We remain quiet, respectful, and aware of our surroundings. We remain courteous and ready to yield to others to ensure everybody’s quality of experience is realized.
